These are a superb and original pair of spelter roman soldiers of which: during our research we have been informed they date certainly from the 19th century. They were part of a recent house clearance where the owner was a collector of bronzes and spelters from the 18th, 19th and later centuries including art deco, art nouveau and classical figures. Wonderful portrayal of the roman soldiers wearing full uniform. Mounted onto spelter decorative bases which are mounted onto the wooden circular bases. Including base, each has an overall height of about 16.5inches. Overall max base dias of about 3.75inches. Condition: The overall condition, considering the age is very good and are without any major blemish. One has lost a: possibly a sword or dagger. Due to age: also rubbing with loss of colour. All as per pictures. Besides being a very collectable pair of spelter roman soldiers from the said period of the 19th century, both would also look fabulous displayed.
