Stunning Original David Hill Watercolour Painting "The Long Walk Home" Signed To The Lower Right By The Artist David Hill With Very Old Label To The Reverse Saying "Original Watercolour By David Hill" Circa 1860 Listed Artist? Watercolour On Quality Artists' Paper Mounted And Framed Behind Glass Lovely Colours And Superb Brushwork This very stunning original speculative watercolour painting measures 17 1/2" by 10 1/2" by 1 1/2" including the frame, and 12 " by 5 3/4" actual picture area. The watercolour itself is in great condition with no damage. The old thick gilt mount is in good solid condition with some age related marks. The glass is in excellent condition with no damage. The solid wood and gilt frame is in good/very good condition for its age with a few surface marks and suits the painting very nicely. I think the frame is a lot later than the mount and the watercolour and has been reframed in the later frame with a wooden panel to the rear held in securely with nails and framing tape. I think the very old label written in quill ink with the artist's details has been taken from the back of the very old original frame and remounted to the rear of this frame for provenance and attribution. I think it is highly likely that the old original frame fell apart. The painting is ready to hang with an old steel hanging wire.
