Cracking piece of history. This has come from a retired builder who eventually had a clearout after selling his house. Originally came from a chapel somewhere in Leeds approx 15 years ago which was converted into residential dwellings. Apparantly this was on the gable end of the building and the people who bought the house asked if the cross could be removed - there choice! The builder took it home, sat it behind his shed and there it has been for the last 15 years or so. It measures 30" high and 18" wide accross the cross and stone is 6" thick. I think it's about 200 years old, it really is a stunning piece, hand carved with amazing detail. It is identically carved on both sides making it even more desirable. Although it's weathered it is in stunning condition. The pictures don't really do it justice. I have not attempted to clean it, thereby giving the buyer the choice to leave aged or clean up. Should you wish to have one like this made today, assuming you could find the right craftsmen it would be a fortune, without being morbid I know someone who last year had one done for a grave, not as big as this and no where near as detailed and the price was eye watering - nearly 5 times the start price for this one. Would prefer collection only, it's quite heavy but mainly I don't want to risk any damage in transportation. Any questions read more
