is a beautiful old D.R. Barton broad axe. T are no cracks or repairs. The poll shows only light wear to the edges. T is plenty of blade length remaining for use. T is no pitting near the cutting edge. The cutting edge is free of chips. It's been polished quite sharp. At most it would require very little additional polishing. It will make an excellent user. The back side is flat like it should be. Nobody improperly sharpened a bevel on the back side and the bevel on the top side looks great. The cutting edge measures 10" wide. It's 8 3/8" across the face. It weighs about 6 1/2 pounds. The handle is quite long at 36 1/2". It may work fine for you as is but it doesn't have the offset or bent profile some users prefer. I imagine it could be steamed and bent or you could replace it. Barton was a very highly regarded edge tool maker from Rochester NY. If you're not happy with it I'll refund your money less shipping. I'm offering it with no reserve! If you want me to remove and exclude the handle I can ship just the head via Priority Mail for $10.00 before insurance.
