Superb, solidly made vintage desk, made of steel, with a thick glass top and three drawers. USED CONDITION, WITH BUMPS AND SCRATCHES, BUT THAT DOESN'T DETER FROM ITS CLEAN, MODERN, MASCULINE LOOKS. The table top dimensions are 159x80cm. There's no name and branding, so I'm guessing at a maker's date of around the early 1960s, and that it would have been used in a smart office, such as an architects firm. I wouldn't be surprised if it was made in Germany – it has that functional, masculine design feel about it.I bought it around five years ago from a dealer who specialised in vintage industrial style items in Shoreditch, and it looked great in my small warehouse off Old Street. It's in used condition, with scratches and bumps and a dent in the glass top about the size of the tip of one of my fingers. None of this distracts from its functional design, but if you're looking for something immaculate, it's not for you. There are three drawers, with what looks like aluminium to the front. The drawers have a lock, but not key.I imagine it working best in a cool retro office. The glass and steel means it blends in quite well too.This is a very heavy item. The glass top needs two people to carry it, and two people to disassemble. The frame can be unbolted to take off the drawers, and the glass top simply sits on the frame.Collection is from read more
