Supermarine Spitfire Mk 1A #FF55 Easy Built Balsa Wood Model Airplane Kit Kit FF-55 Supermarine Spitfire Mk 1A is a 1/9 scale, flying model that uses the Box and Former method of construction. This pre-1942 design is eligible for Society of Antique Modelers (SAM) contests. This jumbo rubber powered model is very popular for electric or gas conversion. The Spitfire was conceived as an interceptor with high speed, heavy armament, high rate of climb and the agility to make repeated attacks as well as to fight off escorting aircraft. Its characteristic elliptical wing shape, thinner than any other fighter of the day, coupled with an innovative aerodynamic ducted radiator produced extra power worth 70 hp at 300 mph. This free flight rubber powered kit contains a full-size rolled plan, building and flying instructions, printed balsa wood, hand-picked balsa stripwood, vacuum-molded spinner, clear plastic for the windshield, wheels, landing gear, and Easy Built Lite colored tissue. You will need a building board, pins, hobby knife, fine sandpaper, and glue.
