Your bid is for a SuperMicro Super P4SCA motherboard, Rev.: 1.3. There isn't much we can add to the standard information above: after all, how many motherboards exist that not only have SATA ports and take a P4 processor, but also feature 3 (three) of the now very rarely found ISA slots, as well as 4 (four) PCI slots?Please note that at least some later SuperMicro Super P4SCA motherboards, such as the Rev. 2.1, while looking in many respects like the 1.3 revision shown here, no longer feature ISA slots. So if you are comparison shopping between listings for a "SuperMicro P4SCA" motherboard, and need the ISA slots, be sure you are comparing the same boards and buy the type you need.This item is also listed well below the price of any comparable Supermicro P4SCA motherboard when you factor in:a. On this listing you are getting 4 of the same type of DIMM that our other listing for the same motherboard only has 2 of, so you get double the RAM (2gb here vs. 1gb there). Note: We have a limited supply of tested 1gb DIMMs that are fully compatible with these motherboards. At our election, we may ship with two of those installed rather than 4 x 512mb DIMMs, as we want to preserve a sufficient supply of the originally installed 512mb DIMMs to keep the option for us of shipping these with just 1gb (2 x 512mb) of the originally installed DIMMs in placec. Heat sink with fan pre-installed on the CPU (other listed examples may have a CPU -- most don't -- but if they do, odds are it's a bare P4 processor without the necessary fan and heat sink preinstalled)This listing also includes the insert for the backplane that matches the peripheral ports on this unit; other listings we've seen on ebay for this item often lack this useful, and by no means universal, part. Some people are selling this item separately. We're providing one with each motherboard.Integrated peripherals include: VGA Video 1 Serial Port 2 USB Ports 1 PS/2 Mouse port 1 PS/2 Keyboard port 1 Parallel Port 1 RJ45 networking port These originally came with 2 x 512mb Kingston DDR400 DIMMs, for a total of 1024mb RAM. We have added two more of the same type and brand of DIMMS and have booted each board after the upgrade with no problems (none were expected). [Note: As noted above, we may at our option ship with 2 x 1gb DIMMs, not Kingston brand but fully tested as compatible with these motherboards.]The industrial PCs these motherboards were installed in used either 400 watt 20 pin ATX power supplies, or 550 watt 24 pin ATX power supplies . Your power needs may of course vary, but the typical configuration regardless of power supply chosen was a full length ISA video and/or audio processing card, 2 PCI video input card (DVI input), and 1 4 drive capable PCI SATA RAID card. Some also came with 1 or 2 additional cards, usually all PCI interface, such as composite video input, multi channel sound card, etc. These cards (not shown in the photos since not in the units here listed) are not included with this listing.Supermicro says these boards can take up to 4 DIMMs (in matched pairs) of up to 1gb each, for a total installable memory of 4gb (if you installed 4 DIMMs, each 1gb size). Note that the amount of RAM that a PC can actually "see" and use will vary depending on which operating system you use; e.g., if you have a 32 bit operating system, you generally can't actually take advantage of more than about 3.5gb of RAM even if you had 4gb (or more) physically installed. There may be other limitations inherent in the architecture of those boards, but they have all checked out as displaying 2 gigabytes of installed RAM.Note that some of the "canned" information (set forth above in a kind of "box") that is supplied by ebay regarding this specific motherboard makes reference to "ECC" memory. The Supermicro site says that this motherboard is capable of using either ECC or non-ECC DIMMs. What is interesting is that unless these motherboards detect ECC DIMMs, the CMOS configuration is default to showing only "non-ECC" configuration. With ECC DIMMs installed, you can (based on our experience with these) toggle back and forth between ECC and non-ECC configuration, and the boards will boot either way with ECC DIMMs. We do not know what performance difference may result, but it may be that if one chooses non-ECC configuration while ECC DIMMs are installed, some of the error checking routines inherent in ECC RAM design will be disabled. That may or may not mean the boards will effectively run faster.We originally started this listing with a quantity of 5 units. Those are long gone, but over time as we have tested these out we have been adjusting the quantity available on this listing (and on our other listing for the same board but with only 1gb RAM instead of 2 installed) up and down. We also want to keep at least one spare board on hand just in case a buyer has a problem. We now have not more than 5 available.These boards came to us inside specialty rack mount computers formerly used in the television industry (they had a specific need for special ISA slot based accessory cards, which is why their systems were based on this motherboard).Each motherboard will come with the following:4 x 512mb matching DIMMs (or as noted above, 2 x 1gb matching DIMMs)P4 processor with heat sink and fan, left in place as received unless you instruct us otherwise (see below). The motherboard can accept both Pentium and Celeron processors.Each motherboard is, after testing (generally in the original chassis in which it was received) to post to BIOS without error messages (see photographs) other than expected items such as absence of peripherals or hard drives not then connected, or possibly the motherboard's internal clock not showing an accurate time of day (coin-cell motherboard batteries have a life expectancy of around 10 years and are easy to replace; thus far, all the boards we've tested show the correct day and year but the time may not be correct due to time drift; and the time of day shown when you boot one of these up for the first time may be different than your local time because these were used in differing time zones). The CPU will remain in place unless you request that it be removed before shipping and not sent to you.Note on the photos: The 4 photos of "screen shots" were generated by one of the first 2 motherboards of this type that we sold in our other listings with the 1gb total RAM setup. Each motherboard will be tested to displaying a "boot up screen" such as seen in those photographs. If the screen shots show a memory count, remember that while those would (until and unless we replace them) display total installed memory of approximately 1gb, the boards actually available through this listing have 4 x 512mb DIMMS installed, totalling 2gb, tested working with the specific unit they are being shipped with. Also please note that we are running short on the 512mb DIMMs compatible with these boards, so reserve the right to substitute a pair of 1gb DIMMs to reach the promised 2gb on this listing. Those DIMMs will have been tested either on the board shipped to you, or on another same type board, to guarantee compatibility and working status.If for some reason a given motherboard would show a substantially different display than that shown on the photos posted here (other than memory count, as noted above), we will list that motherboard in a different auction along with any others that are similarly different than that shown in the "screen shots".
