The bug eyes and mouth suggest a frog human transformation. Note headband suggesting human connection. This piece is a cemi and was hand held during ceremonies to invoke the assistance of the representative god. A wonderful small sculpture. Made of fossil coral that is even yellow tan color from soil environment. Dating c100-1500AD and measures 6.9cm (2 6/8"). Purchased in Palm Beach but originally from the Dominican Republic.
