CHATTY CATHY STILL TALKS! COMES WITH ORIGINAL PINAFORE AND BLOOMERS This doll belonged to my sister-in-law, who was born in 1954, so I would place it at early '60s vintage. She's in good shape, definitely no major defects. I don't know what happened to her shoes, unfortunately. This Chatty Cathy still talks. Sometimes you have to pull the string twice to get a phrase out of her, but you can definitely still understand what she's saying. Sadly, her original owner passed away in 1995. We brought Chatty Cathy home with us on the plane after my sister-in-law's funeral, and I didn't want to put her in the luggage, so I carried her in my arms. Security was suspicious of the dark spot they saw in her chest when she went through x-ray. It's a good thing she still talked, cause they required me to prove that the dark area was actually a speaker. We're in the process of downsizing as we prepare for retirement, and we have no grandchildren to whom we can pass Chatty Cathy down, so my husband made the decision to list her for sale here. She has been well loved and taken care of, and we hope to find her a new home where that will continue. Our home is non-smoking.
