This auction is for a very rare piece of Star Wars history. This 8" tall plastic bank was made in the late 1970's by the American company, Skor-Mor, a manufacturer of games from the 60s-80s. This was an unusual type of item for them and even more unusual because it is one of very few unlicensed vintage Star Wars toys that actually came from a US maker, and they put their name on it no less! Maybe they thought they were fooling someone with the slight retooling, but to any kid in 1977 or 78, there's no mistaking Lord Vader. This piece is gorgeous, uncut and unused. I thought there was some marks on the leg, but on closer inspection, these actually look to be slight defects from the manufacturing process, as is the slightly imperfect hole at the bottom. I've had this piece about 15 years and have kept it in the same condition as I got it, which is fantastic. For a long time I didn't even know much about this, until I found this article: /index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=80929 I was also able to find one documented sale of this figure, and the fact that I only found one should show you how rare it is. You can see here: /t1072058/ that an identical one was offered up on that forum for $125 and there was a taker in just a few hours, and this was a couple years ago. The bidding will start on this one at $125, as well. __________ read more
