This colored etching by Tanna Kasimir-Hoernes is pencil signed by the artist and features what is now called the Federal Hall National Memorial on Wall Street in New York City. Built in 1842 as the United States Custom House on the site of the old Federal Hall it later served as a sub-treasury building. This historically significant building is now operated by the United State's National Park Service. This etching was done during the 1920's to 30's. It measures 19" high by 12" wide inside the mat. The outside dimensions of the mat are 27" by 19". It appears that this print was once owned by Ernst & Young, a brokerage firm in San Francisco. The original dustcover on the back of the frame featured a label from that company and is included with the purchase. The "NY Sub-Treasury Building" ships flat with its mat.Tanna Kasimir-Hoernes (Viennese, 1887-1972), wife of famous etcher and artist Luigi Kasimir, was also the mother of equally renowned artist Robert Kasimir. Ms. Kasimer-Hoernes produced a prodigious body of acclaimed work of her own. Tanna studied at the Vienna Academy of Art where she met Luigi. She and Luigi are known for their artistic innovations that led to the rebirth of the art of etching.
