A limited-edition coin commemorating the Dawn Mission to asteroid Vesta. This coin is serial number 182 of 350. Each coin incorporates a specimen of the diogenite meteorite Tatahouine , specially selected to showcase the distinguishing characteristics of green color , dark bands, and crystalline structure. Tatahouine was chosen for this commemorative coin because it is generally considered to originate from Vesta. The front depicts the Dawn spacecraft leaving Earth for Vesta, propelled by its ion drive engine, with the Tatahouine meteor incoming. The reverse depicts the large crater near the south pole of Vesta where HED (Howardite-Eucrite-Diogenite) meteorites are thought to originate, with Dawn in orbit and a genuine piece of Tatahouine . The stand is not included but you will get a nifty write-up about Dawn, Vesta, and Tatahouine, and it all comes in a nifty pouch. Please Note: The pictures are of the actual coin you will receive. Also Note: The International shipping is via US Postal Service First Class International. It does not allow for tracking or insurance . If you want either, please contact me. Like meteorites?
