Near New Pinch Roller Condition This deck is very close to mint cosmetic condition and is in absolute mint operating condition. I have tried to photograph any cosmetic blemishes (there is not many), so take a good look at the photos. I am an experienced service technician with over 35 years of experience, and this deck has been serviced completely. This deck was working perfectly before I started on it. The first thing I did was to replace the belts. Then while it was apart I disassembled the pinch roller arm assembly to clean out the old grease and re-grease with new synthetic clear grease. Next I oiled the motors and capstan and pinch roller shaft. The last thing I did was clean then lubricated the controls and switches. When you buy a reel-to-reel deck that is listed as in good working condition but has not been restored it will require servicing to get back in mint working condition as this deck is. No reel-to-reel deck can go over 30 years without servicing. I don’t just replace the worn out belts and lubricate, I do a complete restore of the entire deck. This involves a great deal of disassembly, cleaning, lubricating, and testing. There is a lot more involved in the replacement of the belts than simply taking off the old belt and putting on a new one. If the old belt residue is not completely cleaned from the pulleys the new belts will not last long. The grease used back when these decks were manufactured had a tendency to dry up causing moving parts to stop moving freely. To service one of these decks correctly, the old grease must be cleaned out and new grease used to re-lubricate. The new grease that is now available will last a lifetime. Besides re-greasing, the reel and capstan motors have oil fill tubes at the front and rear that need to be periodically oiled. Many of the decks found today have not been oiled in over 30 years! The oil I use is heavy synthetic motor and gear oil that will protect much better than the oil that was originally used. This decks heads look beautiful and show little if any wear, and have been thoroughly cleaned and demagnetized and checked for proper alignment. See photo. Pinch roller pressure has also been checked as well as brake operation. The pinch roller is like new ! The original side panels have been replaced with ones made of solid oak. I will pack with extreme care to insure it will arrive completely undamaged! Every function has been tested and is working perfectly. The sound quality rivals a CD! Teac has been a leader in audio recording equipment now for over 55 years, and with decks like this one, it is easy to see why! I have been using this deck as one of my personal decks for the past few months, and I will truly hate to see it go! The A-3300SX is an extremely versatile tape deck that Teac designed for the beginner through simplicity of design, yet built to the high technical requirements demanded by the semi-professional and experienced audio enthusiasts. Included with this fine deck are the Maxell take-up reel, a high-resolution copy of the owner’s manual, and a test tape with a recording made on this deck. The test tape is a full-length tape with music, and the reason I include this is to show the deck performs, as it should. Sometimes folks buy a reel-to-reel deck in order to play old recordings made long ago, and sometimes those old tapes will not play correctly due to setting too long and being wound tight causing the buyer to think the problem is with the deck. The test tape is recorded on quality tape that will play correctly showing the deck is working the way it should.
