BELL SYSTEM 139B LINE TEST SET - TONE/VOICEFrom the 1970s/1980s era. Used to test and trace telephone lines.
Great for ANYONE who needs to test continuity of a pair of wires or to trace wires.
Will work on telephone wires, alarm system wiring, coaxial cable, speaker wires, car wiring, etc.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING ON ELECTRICAL LINES. This is an original Line Test Set and Tone generator. Has switch on side for OFF, TONE and TALK.
The TONE position sends out a repeating Hi-Lo, Hi-Lo patterned tone. Measures approx. 5.5 x 2.5 x 1". Cord is approx. 29" long. Original Alligator clips at end of each lead. Uses 2 AA batteries, and I've included the original Western Electric/Bell System
pair from this unit, which had been removed a long time ago.
Reinstalled batteries and, VOILA , the unit worked (and with 25+ year-old batteries)!
I would suggest you keep these as part of a collectible display.
T is also a Caution on the inside about using Alkaline batteries, so
I'm presuming that NON-alkaline dry batteries are best . Cord and alligator clips are like new. Plastic Unit case has no gouges or cracks with
light surface scratches and original Tester's initials scratched in front. This RARE piece is a good find and still a versatile and very useful tool.
Will make a great addition to anyone's Bell System collection or toolbox.
