If you have seen the BBC documentary "The Real Bangkok Hilton", you will noticed that the inmates in BANG KWANG Prison were shackled in permanent leg irons which has a very long chain. If you have not seen that documentary, go to youtube and search for " Bangkok Hilton", t are a few shots of the inmates in irons. This pair of unused irons for MALE INMATES was in used in Thailand prisons before the hinge-less design shackles (listed in my other auction) came into the prisons in the 70's . This hinge design irons has RTP ( Royal Thai Prison, the name changed to TDC - Thailand Department of Correction later ) and a 3-digits serial number stamped. This auction is ONLY for the shackles on the top and on the right side of the pictures. These prison leg irons uses metal bolts to hold the two pieces together, once bolted, it is quite impossible for the wearer to remove it without the tools. The way of bolting is different from the Taiwan shackles, you have to hammer the tail of the nail flat instead of 90 degrees as the Taiwanese irons. It weights about 1.4 Kg . Bolts nails (5 pairs) are included. The shackle is oval in shape for better ankle fit, (Inside diameter of shackle is about 7.5 cm x 9 cm ), thickness of the shackle ring is about 1.2 cm diameter.
