Bronze Bust of Thomas Jefferson by Listed Artist DAVID PRYOR ADICKESThis is a bronze bust of Thomas Jefferson, done by David Pryor ADICKES. The artist is best known for his giant sculptures--a 67-foot statue of Sam Houston in Huntsville, Texas, and 2 state Presidents Parks. One was located in Lead, South Dakota, which is probably the provenance of this bust. (It may have been sculpted first before the giant one of Jefferson was made for South Dakota.)This well-sculpted bust is finely detailed, although it is hard to photograph being bronze. I did lighten the pic of the signature so that "Adickes"could be seen. It is about 10" x 12" and very heavy.The Sam Houston small bronze bust used for the Huntsville giant statue was sold for over $4,500. This is a chance to get something similar for a lot less!
