Thomas C. Kinkaid [1888-1972] was a admiral of the United States Navy during World War II, who commanded Allied Forces in the South Pacific Area [SWPA] and the U.S 7th Fleet. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1908, and served on battleships during world war I. During the early part of world war II, now Rear Admiral Kinkaid commanded the Pacific Fleet cruiser division and later commander a large task force built around the aircraft carrier Enterprise and participated in the battle for the Solomon Islands. In 1943, he commanded the 7th fleet through all major battles in the pacific area until the end of the war. Admiral Thomas Kinkaid retired from the navy in 1953, and died in 1972. Listed for auction is a typed letter signed [TLS] by Admiral Thomas C. Kinkaid. The letter is typed on his personal four star letterhead and dated 16 October 1945. The letter is a response for the admiral's autograph which his has graciously signed ''Thomas C. Kinkaid'' in blue fountain pen above his typed name rank and command. The letter measures 6.00 x 7.75 inches, it has a ink mark at the top and bottom of the letter trivial, of which both are well away from the signature, text and letterhead.
