Available is a huge, museum quality specimen of Thorite (Th). The Thorite is from the Trench #1 on Mount Rosa in Teller County, Colorado. It is 252 grams (8.9 ounces) which is quite large!!! The Thorite specimen is extremely rich with wonderful red Thorite and is unusually active!!! This is from the best single pocket of specimens of Thorite I have ever mined. This specimen is essentially SOLID Thorite with some orange Thorogummite. This is one my largest remaining, SOLID, super active specimen I have - from my personal collection. . My largest two specimens I ever found just sold on EBay nearly instantly at the BIN price. Simply stunning in appearance and in activity. It will rock your detectors. A multi-three figure specimen in all respects. This specimen will be shipped wrapped in a pure lead sheet. This quality of Thorite is rarely offered on the open market - and never at such an affordable price. This is excellent material testing your detection equipment and is also of collector quality. This is ADVANCED collector material and is offered at a beginner collector price. Neutron Rae – 5 mR/hr Eberline ASP-1 at 2 inches – 700,000 cpm Eberline ASP-1 at surface – 2,200,000 cpm You may get higher or lower readings on your own meter depending upon its sensitivity. My detection equipment detection equipment details are below. If you get significantly lower (or higher) readings than achieved by my Neutron Rae and/or CDV-700 it is YOUR equipment. My CDV-700 is the typical work-horse Geiger Muller tube detector. My measurements are with the Beta Shield closed . It is factory except for the BNC connector and is calibrated. You should expect your meter to produce readings between these and those measured by my Rae Systems detector (described below). My Rae systems NeutronRae is a $2200 pager detector. Its cesium iodide (CsI) TI doped and lithium iodide (LiI) scintillators provide low level detection in a compact unit and are 100´s of times more sensitive than a similar sized Geiger-Muller detector. The CsI scintillator measures gamma from 0.06 to 3.0 MeV. The readings of this detector will be similar to most Geiger Muller tube detectors and small meters, regardless of their cost and sensitivity. Eberline ASP-1 set at 900 volts with a large 1”x1”x4” scintillator crystal. This meter is extremely sensitive and expensive . You will not achieve these readings unless you also have a very high quality meter with a huge crystal. You should use these readings to gauge your handling and storage needs of this material. This item is a natural mineral defined as an UNREFINED ORE . This item is accepted by EBAY as is it a natural ore with trace amounts of radioactive minerals.
