This 1960's Prayer Wheel is from Thimpu , Bhutan . Used by Bhutanese Buddhist pilgrims to recite, "Om Mani Padmi Hum". This prayer wheel is turned clockwise with a little wrist action and each turn is equal to the reading of the mantras that is inside this wheel. The mantras are applied on the rice paper with wood blocks. On the top of the wheel and around the wheel is the mantra, "Om Mani Padmi Hum". The prayer wheel is 15" long and in very good condition.
