TIFFANY STUDIOS CAPTAIN’S BELL LAMP AND REACTIVE GLASSSHADE NO RESERVE Offered at no reserve is an authentic Tiffany Studios captain’s bell lamp with a Favrile reactive glass shade. This auction is for both the bronze lamp base and the Favrile shade. The lamp base has a nice even red-green-brown patina and is in very good condition. It is fitted with its original GE socket and its three original ball screws to hold the shade. The base is in very good condition with no dents or bends in the arms and minimal wear to the patina. This is a nice example of this base. The base measures 10 inches high and is 9 inches at its widest point. The bottom diameter is 5 inches. The base is very heavy for its size. The bottom plate is marked “Tiffany Studios New York” and is stamped with the Tiffany Glass & Decorating Co. monogram. The base is numbered 29744, which pre-dates Tiffany’s model numbers and indicates a production date prior to 1902. The bell-shaped shade is Tiffany reactive glass and has a slight gold and lavender iridescence. It has a ghostly “rainy” design indicative of Tiffany’s reactive glass. Though unsigned, the shade is plainly Tiffany Favrile both in its shape, coloration, and quality, and I guarantee it to be Tiffany (not all Tiffany glass was signed).
