Play of color: transparent optical crystal with a distinct yellow hue. Natural mirror luster crystal faces. Perfect chisled terminated smoky hue tip. Look at the pics! From: The Sudan Plateau, Africa. When is the last time you saw natural quartz this black and yellow color? Let me answer....not until now! Pretty darn cool if you ask me. While at the 2011 Tucson Gem & Mineral Show this year, we spotted this new material being offered by a group of Australian miner/geologists. One of the unique pockets of quartz that they mined while looking for other exotic metals was this pocket of unique colored quartz. They call it Tiger Quartz because of its darker color smoky stripes at the perfectly terminated tips. Nice contrast against the yellow body color. Thus the name Tiger Quartz. I am not so sure that I like its name. Only because there is a man-made fire fusion quartz coming out of China by the same name. But I was not about to upset the Australians. This is very cool quartz. I like it. Hope you will too. Definately unique natural color! They only had a small quantity of kilos. So, rest assured, you are not going to see it offered elsewhere for less money. read more
