The canvas is lined with a non-wax adhesive. The stretcher is old and the paint layer is stable. It has been quite heavily varnished. No restorations are clearly visible under ultraviolet light. There are a couple of brushstrokes on the lower left edge and a few spots around the extreme edges that may correspond to retouching. The work should be hung as-is.
