A medium size porcelain serving bowl from the Suomi line of dinnerware by Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) for Rosenthal, Germany. Part of Rosenthal's ongoing Studio-Linie, which began in the 1950s as a collaboration with leading modern artists and designers. The award-winning Suomi (or "Finland" as the name translates) has been in continual production since its design in the mid-1970s. It has been produced with various surface decoration, some by major artists such as Eduardo Paolozzi, Victor Vasarely and Salvador Dali. The Suomi White is the dinnerware in its pure sculptural form. With Sarpaneva script signature and Rosenthal marks in white stencil on the outside top edge. PLEASE NOTE: the last photo includes additional pieces of Suomi White I am listing and is for comparison only. This listing is for the smaller bowl.
