I will be listing several lots of toys, both airplanes and trucks and cars all from just before WW 2 when the seller was a young boy. Here is group of three toys, group #1 of airplanes. have some fun with these old toys. airplanes generally have a wingspan of 5 1/4" to 5 3/4" here the green one and the silver one have no wheels or props. the other two have no props, but have wheels. " I did have a lot of these kinds of toys in the 1930s and so did the other kids. We used to get together and make war on the enemy (often the Chinese, because of their bombing of the USS Panay, or the Germans because of WW I and the way they were taking over Europe). Most of our parents were patriotic and felt we would get into war at some point and the aggressors were Japan and Germany. I knew two fellows who were dating local girls who joined Chenault's Flying Tigers, and in 1939 a couple who went for the RAF. That sort of thing impressed the young teenagers that we were, even if we didn't think very deeply about it. Most of us wanted Hirohito, Hitler and Mussolini put down. Our play times showed our feelings very clearly. We were model makers and made models of the Panay and other US ships. After September 1, 1939, we also made lots of models of British, German, Italian Japanese and American planes for use on American and British air bases for identification
