Up for auction is a Tony Gwynn toy action figure in the all white uniform of the San Diego Padres baseball team. This is a CHASE figure, meaning fewer Tony Gwynn figures in the all white uniform were produced than the brown and white uniform version. This sculpted baseball figure is mint and has never been removed from its clear, clamshell case. The clamshell case is in excellent condition with no “push-ins” in the plastic clamshell that sometimes is found on McFarlane figure. The figure was issued in 2010 by the McFarlane toy company as part of their MLB Cooperstown Collection, Series 7 Edition. Nicknamed Mr. Padre and Captain Video, Gwynn played 20 seasons (1982–2001) for the San Diego Padres. The left-handed right fielder won eight batting titles in his career, tied for the second most in MLB history. He is considered one of the best and most consistent hitters in baseball history. He was a 15-time All-Star, recognized for his skills both on offense and defense with seven Silver Slugger Awards and five Gold Glove Awards. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007, his first year of eligibility.
