RARE AND VINTAGE 1964 TOPPING MODELS 1/100 SCALE ALASKA AIRLINES BOEING 727-100 "GOLDEN NUGGET JET" SOLID DESK TOP DISPLAY MODEL AIRPLANE AND STAND. eBay Auction Description: This auction is for a Rare and Vintage 1964 Topping Models, 1/100 Scale, Alaska Airlines Boeing 727-100 "Golden Nugget Jet" Solid Desktop Display Model Airplane and Stand. The model airplane measures approximately 16.00" long x 13.50" wingspan x 3.75" tall. The model airplane is made of a combination of wood/resin/fiberglass composite type materials. The acrylic stand measure approximately 5.75" long x 4.00" wide (varies) x 5.00" tall. Alaska Airlines issued just a few of these desktop display model airplanes to it's top ranking company executives. I acquired this rare model from an estate of former Alaska Airlines President & CEO, Charles F. Willis. Important Information About This Rare Model and Stand: The model's overall color and decals have yellowed and dried somewhat over the years. There's a few small thin scratch, scuff, stains and dirt spots on various areas of the model. There's some very minor wear on the wing tip edges and the stabilizer tip edges. If you "shake" the model airplane in your hands, you can hear a very small piece within the model moving around. The stand has a very small thin "hairline" 2" long crack in it. As many of these acrylic stands have developed over the decades, supporting these heavy model airplanes. Overall, the model and stand are in Near Mint to Mint condition for being over 47 years old. The model is being sold in "as is condition". The original factory model box is unfortunately not included. I'll certainly take great care in boxing this model up for shipping to the winning high eBay bidder. A Short History about the Boeing 727 Airplane: The Boeing 727 is a mid-size, narrow-body, three-engine, T-tailed commercial jet airliner, manufactured by Boeing. The Boeing 727 first flew in 1962, and for over a decade more were built per year than any other jet airliner. When production ended in 1984 a total of 1,832 aircraft had been produced. The 727's sales record for the most jet airliners ever sold was broken in the early 1990s by its younger stablemate, the Boeing 737. The 727 followed the success of the Boeing 707 quad-jet airliner. Designed for short-haul routes, the 727 became a mainstay of airlines' domestic route networks. A stretched variant, the 727–200, debuted in 1966.
