Traditional Laguna Pottery Artist: LeeAnn Cheromiah Dimensions: 7 1/4" Tall x 8" Wide This piece was hand coiled and painted by LeeAnn Cheromiah, a well known Laguna artist in New Mexico. She was taught by her mother, Evelyn Cheromiah who is known for her role in reviving the art of pottery making in Laguna Pueblo in the early 1970's. The piece is decorated with various traditional designs including a checker pattern, painted in black, that repeats around the center, and step patterns, with fine line work, painted in a burnt orange, around the top and bottom. Each of LeeAnn's pieces are painted with the same designs, but vary slightly in their orientation around the piece. The piece itself is a wonderful shape. It has a nicely even shouldered body which narrows into a round neck. The piece is symmetric and balanced and sits nicely on any flat surface. The piece is in great condition; free of scuffs, scratches or cracks. This is an excellent piece and a great continuation of the revival of Laguna pottery. It is signed on tbe bottom by LeeAnn.
