hello and welcome, this is a lovely old item, that has been well used. it is a traveling communion set, which is complete in its original box. it is silver plated and back stamped as such.there is also stamp of AI in a shield cartouche, i am fairly sure this denotes the quality. its also back stamped W. B. & S. I have researched this on google, and found a william batt &sons. they operated at 69, broom spring lane sheffield. i understand they dissolved in 1866. that doesnt mean i am dating the item, just passing info on that i have learned. the pyx is circular form with a lift off SILVER PLATED, lid, which has a circle design and domed top. engraved with a cross intersected by IHS. 1 1/8" H IGH DIAMETER 1 1/2". the paten is SIVER PLATED circular in shape, with a shallow bowl, centre engraved with a cross intersected by I H S.3" in diameter. wine bottle , glass faceted sided, cork present screw lid silver plate and also engraved as items above, 4 1/8" high. glasses , fluted shape heavy base 4 in total. no chips or cracks. all of the above in my opion are good condition, silver plate showing very little wear. the box ,has silk lined case, faux leather, fitted velvet to hold the glasses. the paten is held in the lid, by two clips.. the condition of the box is not brilliant, there is staining on the base from seepage of read more
