"Third Edition, Revised and Enlarged" 18 introductory pages. 268 pages. 12 folding plates. Four pages of advertisements. First published in 1836, this was the standard US reference work on fortification during the Mexican War and the Civil War. Tight binding with sound hinges. Clean pages with light toning and occasional finger smudge. Owner's name on front free endpaper. All folding plates present; several with misfolds and worn outer edges. Plate X split at first fold, but all of plate is present. Cover has some wear and soiling.
