++ TRENCH ART ++ ++ GERMAN BRASS SHELL CASING ++ ++ Diameter 8 1/2" Height 9" ++ ++ World War I ++ This Shell casing has a garland engraved all the way round. Also engraved "The Great War" with unusual dates of 1914 - 19. As the war ended in late 1918 this possibly was engraved before the engraver (solder) was aware the war was over. On the bottom of the shell it has the date of FEB 1918, the number 137 and Sr 256. Then in a circle around the center PATRONENFAABRIK KARLSRUHE, the is two sort of flower symbol between to two words. There is also some engraving on the metal bit in the very middle, 14HP, Sh, & a symbol. It has been stored undetected in the back of a garage for about 10 to 15 years under a pile of junk. My dad had a go at cleaning is about couple of months ago so it would benefit from a more thorough polish up. The bottom has lots of scratches. I think the garland engraving has been done really well. If there is any further info you might want please email and I'll try to help. Its pick up only from Leigh on Sea post code SS9 I'm afraid and you can pay by PayPal before or cash when picking up. Or maybe you can arrange for a courier as this is very heavy. I've never sold anything this way but I'm sure it can be sorted out. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ++++ Please take a few minutes to view my other items ++++ Please read more
