For sale is a nice original piece of American WWI WW1 military trench art. This is a coin bank made in the likeness of a British Mark IV tank. I presume this is made by an American Soldier, but could be British as well. The tank measures 10 1/4" long, and is 4 1/2" wide. The port side slides off by the means of a clever arrangement of nails and off-center holes. There is a coin slot on top of the upper rear cupola of the tank. There are three small brass guns, one is missing from the front. It MAY have had guns also on the outer side of the side sponsons as there are holes there, but I am not sure about this. There is an inscription in red ink on the bottom. Unfortunately, during the time I owned this some moisture got to it and caused it to bleed, but the year "1918" is visible, and it was signed also by the soldier who made it, along with his Division, etc. This is no longer readable, but it is there. A really cool artifact from the time of the Great War.
