It is the only example made. The Maroon switcher finished production in 1957 and all had locomotive No 5007 and open couplings. After 1957, only yellow versions were available until the introduction of the Canadian and Australian varieties in the late 1960's. This Maroon Switcher sports Locomotive No 7005 which indicates a 1961 or 1962 dated prototype and has the later type body with raised criss crossed front black breather. Earlier models did not have this. Chances are that Triang was thinking of re releasing the Maroon Switcher at some point, but only followed through with this prototype. The item is in good used condition and has obvious scuffs from use. The instructions are not numbered or dated which is a general dead give away for the prototype items made by Triang. Box type is correct for a later switcher with inner card pocket, instead of the late 1950's two piece internal card packers used. An Iconic locomotive prototype model to add to your collection.
