This auction is for an unusual and unknown item. I am not sure its origin or its purpose. The item I know is very cool, and very detailed. It looks to be hand carved due to the fact that no two sides are the same and no two eyes or any thing the same on every piece that seems to be stuck onto or meshed together with the wood stick which resembles a cane. I have never before seen anything of its kind, and do not know when it was made. The piece has designed hand carved pieces along a 39" stick with a weird walrus tooth shaped handle, and a rubber foot peg on the bottom of the stick. These are the two things that make the cane more interesting and unkown to me. If it is a tribal cane or spirit stick, then why the rubber end on the bottom, and why the large animal tooth on top for the handle. The stick or cane has what looks like an Indian chief with a very large mouth and teeth and red eyelids with hair stitched around the back of the stick. The head has 6 large teeth with a copper feather headband around the head. The hair is stitched around the back side of the piece and the head has large nostrils that look flared. On either side of the top of the head around the band of feather are gem stones. One pinkish with grey two tone one on the left and a dark purple almost blackish stone on the center, and a turquoise like blue stone on the right side. There are no ears carved on the head. Below this carving is a design made of yarn that wraps the entire circumference of the cane with Indian colors such as dark pink, purple, burgundy, and green with yellow, white, green, and red stripes. There is a symbol that all the yarn is formed to make which to the best of my knowledge reminds me of the navajo symbol with the diamond shape to it while having the same shape only smaller inside of each of the larger diamonds. Under this yarn made design is what appears to be a dark wood with lots of holes pitted into it, almost like a driftwood that has been blackened which is attached to a different lighter colored piece directly below it. This piece almost looks like it is ears a face made of purple gemstones with strands of fur attached but dangling from it. Very unusual, and not understood by me is also a black owl directly underneath of that design. The owl has red eyes and seems to be perched across a branch that is carved into under the feet of the owl. While under the owl is a feather with copper tips and a hot pink gemstone in the middle of the feathers, which one is facing up and the other is facing down with a floral type design maybe leaves on either side of the stone.....and then lastly is a dark green gemstone under that. It looks to be centered into what looks like the leaves I described on the side of the above object on side of the feather, only these leaves are in a circle around the gemstone, in an almost florist like design. Attached to the bottom of the stick is the rubber foot piece which fits over the bottom of the stick. The stick that everything is attached to is dark red almost a cherry in color and you can see the wood fibers. The stick or cane has been varnished or lacquered or something because it holds a slight luster. Finally, at the top of the cane or walking stick or whatever this might be is what looks like a large animal tooth. It is not perfectly shaped but rather naturally shaped. It feels like it is wooden however, and it is a dark grey color. This piece has scratches on it that are pretty easily seen. The cane is 39" to the bottom of the toothlike piece adn about 43" around the top of the curve of the tooth like piece. The tooth would represent where you would hold a normal cane with your hand. I am not sure what I have here, and am selling the item as is due to this. I will ship the item securely, and with insurance while using a reputable carrier. I will ship the item promptly.
