A beautiful triple-deposit Princes Plate Silver Egg coddler by Mappin and Webb, c1900/1910. In very condition for its age. It has lovely period decoration. The finial is ebony? wood topped with silver, it has three legs with ball feet and endings. Comes with its original burner. It is in lovely condition with no dinks or markings. Some surface scratches but the plate is sound throughout. The base of the wooden finial has a small piece missing and has lost most of its varnish but it is still sound. It can be removed for washing and cleaning. On the base it states Triple Deposit, Mappin and Webb, Princes Plate, London and Sheffield, S (in a shield), W15471, Pat. No 24536. It is extremely large by egg coddler standards being is 8"/21cms high and 6"/15cms in diameter. We think it might have been designed for coddling larger eggs such as duck or goose eggs. Has been in my family for many years (probably from new) but it is has been stored and unused for many years and we would like it to go to a home where it is properly appreciated. Would make a lovely gift. Will be well-wrapped for postage which will be recorded delivery. I am happy to quote for postage for overseas using an insured postage option. Any questions, please ask. Thanks for looking.
