Here's a new Coil , it is a Ballast 12v coil and suits the following models from Triumph- TRIUMPH Triumph GT6 Mk3 (1970-) Triumph Spitfire MkIV (1970-) Triumph Spitfire 1500 (1974-) Triumph Stag Triumph Toledo (1970-) Triumph 1500 FWD Triumph 1500 RWD (1973-4 Only) Triumph 2000 (With Ballast) (1969-) Triumph 2500TC (1974-) Triumph 2.5pi Mk2 (With Ballast) (1969-) This is a Ballast coil, the earlier models use a Non Ballast coil - the two are not interchangeable. The function of this coil is to generate the 000's of volts required by your spark plugs, they deteriorate with age and the insulation between the wires inside can breakdown and therefore the coil needs replacing once in a while.
