Malachite and shattukite from Congo DRC The Democratic republic of the Congo is a country located in Central Africa with a small length of Atlantic coastline. Malachite often results from the weathering of copper ores and is often found together with azurite, goethite and calcite. The name Malachite comes from a Greek word which means "mallow-green stone". The mineral was given this name because it has a resemblance to the leaves of the Mallow plant. Shattukite is a relatively rare copper silicate mineral. It was first discovered in 1915 in the copper mines of Bisbee, Arizona, specifically the Shattuk Mine where it inherited its name.We bring you the treasures of our region and offer it with confidence and pride!
