Sympathetic Resonance Tuning Fork SetFor auction is a set of heavy tuning forks, two resonance boxes, and a mallet to strike the tuning forks. The two forks have the same 440 Hz frequency. One of the forks has a metal weight on it, which you can move up and down on the arm of the fork. This weight alters the frequency of the fork, bringing it out of alignment with the reference tuning fork. The resonance boxes are 180 mm long, 92 mm wide, and 52 mm high. They stand on rubber supports. The distance from the bottom of the base support to the top of the fork in the box is 235 mm.This set can be used to demonstrate several principles of sound and resonance, including the constructive and destructive interference of sound waves. The set also makes a great item for display. It would also be good for homeschool science experiments in physics or physical science, but it does not come with any curriculum for the homeschooling activities. T are no written materials included. The resonance boxes make the sound of the tuning fork much louder. If you just take one box, put in the tuning fork, and strike it, you get a 440 Hz sound wave that can easily be heard across a room. After one good strike, the vibrations will remain load for about ten seconds and audible for another twenty seconds (although it can just barely be heard at the end of the read more
