I purchased this Middle Eastern brass hanging pendant lamp at my favorite local area consignment shop. It's very near in it's design to another that was recently listed and sold at auction last week on Ebay. The similarities in the two I realized are due to both looking very much like the old reticulated brass insense braziers created with the dual purpose of forming intricately styled perferated pattern designs as well as a release for the aromatic smoke of the insense which seems to require one to swing the brazier back and forth. My lamp still has an original merchants sticker on the body, however it's in arabic tfore I'm not certain as to what it reads, If any interested buyers that are viewing can translate please do as it may assist me with assessing the age of the item, while I'm certain this is very very vintage, I'd like to determine an approximate time in which it was made, as its possibly an antique. The lamp appears to be reticulated brass with an intricate pattern design, the body of the lamp is six sided with a hinged top in the shape similar to a mosque dome with a bird finial the base of the item is of similar effect ending in a lobed tip, six scroll shaped pillars accent overhanging rims extending them in length by approximately an inch upper and lower. the six sides are paneled in colored pattern glass, cobalt, read more
