Rare Turn Teplitz Art Nouveau Tree Vase By Paul Dachsel Austria Purple Mark 1902 -1911This rare and unique vase is beautifly colored in a tree motif with hues of mat green and silver. Clearly marked with the logo of Paul Dachsel and has 1071 and a 7 incised on the bottom.It measures approximately 6" High and 6" at the bulbous middle. It has a 3 1/2" base.As mint as an over 100 year old vase can be, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Truly a beautiful piece of European pottery by a true master.Paul Dachsel was the son-in-law of Alfred Stellmacher, the founder of Amphora Pottery, Turn-Teplitz, Austria. He was a designer at Amphora from 1892 until circa 1904 or 1905, when he left the family firm. In 1905 or 1906 founded his own pottery, Kunstkeramik Paul Dachsel. While at Amphora and later at his factory, Dachsel created designs that favored simple forms elaborated with applied handles, rims, and ornaments. In many examples, he favored tertiary colors and folded, flat, and soft-edged shapes, giving his work a fairy-tale quality.
