Tuskegee AirmenCol Charles McGee P-51 Mustang "Kitten", by artist Willie Jones Jr.Charles E. McGee joined the US Army on October 26, 1942 and earned his wings on June 30, 1943. He flew his first mission on February 14, 1944 with the 302nd Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group in Italy. He shot down an FW-190 on August 24, 1944 during an escort mission while flying his fateful mount a P-51C Mustang named “Kitten”. Col Charles E. McGee enjoyed a long successful US Air Force career with over 30 years service.
