CLASSIC WAR TITLE DAVIS COVER AND ART ART BY ELDER SEVERIN HOUSE ADS FOR MAD AND OTHER TITLES FOUR BOUND ISSUES After the War ended, comic sales started to drop. More specifically, superheroes as a genre began to drop. Publishers looked around for something to replace the long-johns. Under the guidance of Max Gaines, had a history of publishing books such as Picture Stories of the Bible and Pictures Stories of American History. In 1947 Max Gaines died in a boating accident and his son William came in to deal with the family business. William had a slightly different take on the comic industry. Within a year the titles published by EC had begun to move away from the standards established by Max. William was trying to keep a company afloat in a decreasing market. EC used the Annuals as a way of clearing out back issues. So this Annual contained four random EC War issues. The stories included in this Annual include Frontline Combat #9 (Abe Lincoln, First Shot, Choose Sides and Bull Run); Frontline Combat #11 Bird Dogs, Rough Riders, Lufberry and Sailor); Two Fisted Tales #29 (Korea, Red Knight, Washington and Fire Mission) and lastly, Two Fisted Tales #30 (Bunker, Knights, Wake and Fledgling). The book has been graded GD/VG. The cover has a light bit of wear. Still, t is a nice reflective gloss. T is a 3" piece of tape on the right read more
