Rare Nexus Royal Mint commemorative medal to mark HM The Queen's opening of the Metro's Sunderland extension in 2002.The Tyne and Wear Metro is owned and operated by Nexus, the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive. Metro is a modern light railway serving the Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland districts of the North East. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II formally opened Metro on November 6, 1981 and also officially opened Sunderland Metro extension on May 7, 2002.This medal in a Royal Mint padded presentation box has the Nexus logo on the lid. The medal, 4cm in diameter, has the details of the opening on one side with Metro logo and the Queen 1952-2002 on the other. Non-UK bidders please request a p&p cost.
