Up for auction is a matched set of 8 tan Barrel style mugs (#16) by U H L Pottery Company.These beautiful art pottery mugs are double glazed by hand, with a lovely tan on the out sideand equally pretty cream/off white glaze on the inside. These mugs stand 4 1/2 inches tall, andare in excellent condition, no crazing, or chips. T is one spot shown in the picture of a bubblethat must have popped. Over all these lovely old mugs are in excellent condition for art potteryof this vintage. They look like they have never been used. This set would be an excellent setfor a collector or for your own use at home. UHL Pottery company was in business from 1849 to 1944! A very old American pottery companythat started in business in Evansville, Indiana by German immigrants August and Louis Uhl. Afterfinding a much better quality of clay near Huntingburg, Indiana, the plant was moved to that locationin 1908. The Uhl Potteru Co., operated out of Huntingburg until 1944, at witch time the plant was closed due to economic factors. Please feel free to contact me about any question you may have.
