UN-NAMED Est : 12in (300mm) Petzval type lens with Rack & Pinion Focusing & Iris Diaphragm An interesting Petzval -type lens (meaning) it has a single element at the front, with double elements at the rear with space in-between the rear elements; probably dates from early 20th Century, possibly earlier; coverage would be for formats to 10x8, at list. It has an iris diaphragm with apertures values 1 to 5 and rack and pinion focusing. The lens measures approx 17.5cm long including hood depth of 3cm ; rear flange mounting is approximately 9cm in diameter ( not included ). This item is in good condition, showing signs of light/normal ageing with use and handling – the barrel shows normal ageing and tarnishing, but the R&P focusing mount and screw-in hood, has a more greyish colour and looks more recent – there are no dings or dents. Optically the glass is good, clean looking for most part, but there is what looks like some very tiny shiny spots on inside front glass and slight haze and fungus on rear element, but there is no balsam or scratches.
