So you're a guy who wants a solid 14K gold diamond and ruby ring but can't shell out the bucks for it right now. . .well, you go! This ring has the look but not the price. This is a beautiful ring by the old antique jewelry company, Uncas, which began manufacturing jewelry back in the 1920s. From the hallmark on the inside of this ring, this is probably one of their first pieces. They are known for producing jewelry that very closely approximated precious jewelry in appearance, and this ring is no exception. This is a man's ring (obviously) and it bears the hallmark of 14K R.G.P. which means the ring has a thick solid plating of solid 14K "rolled gold" (R.G.P. means Rolled Gold Plate) that's applied to a base metal underneath. It has the feel and heft of a solid gold ring. This jewelry company is more known for sterling jewelry, so to find an art deco man's ring in rolled gold by Uncas makes this very collectible. It features a 7mm old mine cut crystal (probably quartz) that would be equivalent to a 1.25 carat diamond in the center. On each side are two "faux rubies" also mine cut, each is 3.5mm, about 20 points each. The red stones are translucent and really nice quality for fake stones. Trust me, this ring has a great look.
