This auction is for one soap dish, measuring 4-1/4 by 5-1/2 inches across the lip and 1-1/4 inches high. It is ridged inside to prevent soap from turning into a gooey puddle. Pattern number is 1324 . The colors in this piece are: shades of cobalt blue and pale green on a creamy white ground. The premiere pottery from Poland, Unikat is hand-painted and signed by the artist. Collectors prize this stoneware for its quality craftsmanship, while everyday users love it for being safe to use in oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher. (But don’t take it directly from the freezer to the oven/micro; allow it to warm up, first.) The beauty of Unikat is the user’s ability to buy pieces in any number of patterns and still ensure overall color coordination. Each piece of stoneware has an unglazed ring on the bottom. I highly recommend using a piece of extra-fine sandpaper (#300 or higher) to smooth this down. It prevents scratching when you stack your stoneware.
