This auction is for one square plate, measuring 11-1/8 inches square across the outside of the lip by 1-1/4 inches high. Pattern number is 2426 . The colors in this piece are: shades of cobalt blue, pale reddish orange, shades of green, and golden yellow on a creamy white ground with detailing in black. This plate is V-shaped. The premiere pottery from Poland, Unikat is hand-painted and signed by the artist. Collectors prize this stoneware for its quality craftsmanship, while everyday users love it for being safe to use in oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher. (But don’t take it directly from the freezer to the oven/micro; allow it to warm up, first.) The beauty of Unikat is the user’s ability to buy pieces in any number of patterns and still ensure overall color coordination. Each piece of stoneware has an unglazed ring on the bottom. I highly recommend using a piece of extra-fine sandpaper (#300 or higher) to smooth this down. It prevents scratching when you stack your stoneware.
