Now here is something you NEVER see on the market anymore - an nice big quarter-plate image of not one but TWO Union soldiers, both armed with CARBINES. When I got this image it was uncased and still attached to a raggety old mat that was bent around it. I carefully removed the old mat, put the image in a new set of hardware, popped it into a decent leatherette case, and here you go. It looks way nicer now than when I found it. Too bad it got a little banged up through the years, but you can't argue with an image that shows two full-length Union soldiers armed with carbines. I'm reluctant to sell it, but new acquisitions mean it's time to send this one to a good new home. The image is a 1/4th plate tintype - is actually pretty sharp and clear, with decent contrast. However, poor storage over the years led to some bends (not folds, however) and scratches. The emulsion is stable. The worst of it is a big scratch that runs along the length of the soldier on the left's carbine sling and a bend that runs from the lower left corner to just below the knee of the soldier on the right. I think this is a killer piece despite the issues and will be a great deal for whoever gets it. My pictures tell the tale and have not been altered in any way.
