Great Christmas Gift!! This is a hand-carved wooden doll crafted by Kenneth von Essen. It was titled "The Apple Peddler" and features fully articulated joints, glass eyes, and a display stand. Including the stand, she stands about 23" tall and the doll alone is about 21" tall. I t is in great shape! NO damage to the fingers or features . The original owner said "This doll was crafted of basswood by Kenneth von Essen. He also painted her features. His wife Norma dressed her and made the wig. She was made for a publication competition at a national convention of NIADA. This is a very prestigious group. One must be juried to be a member. Ken's greatest interest, probably from his engineering background, is in jointing, and she is fully articulated. Ken is a well-established artist, and she did make into the NIADA book . Her skirts were properly set on fire then beat out, and wet coffee grounds were rolled onto her feet and clothes to soil and tatter them. The cobblestone stand was Norma's idea. She stands by rudely inserting the metal rod into her bottom, then inserting the other end into the stand. This is a one-of-a-kind doll. " This doll was originally purchased for $3,750! IMPORTANT NOTE - Ken has recently had a stroke and WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO CRAFT THESE BEAUTIFUL DOLLS!! Posted with eBay Mobile
