This is a very strange old bottle. It was used to bottle Kentucky Coon sour mash whiskey from R osenfield and Co of Louisville, KY . It stands 12 inches tall, and is 3+ inches across the bottom. It has a cork-type top, no cork. There is a G othic-looking design embossed around the top shoulder of the bottle. The faces are in an etched area of the bottle and depict "very happy" on one side and "very unhappy or mean" on the other side. The hair of the unhappy individual continues up to merge with the design at the top of the bottle. The hair area on the happy person is clear, and has the name of the company and the brand of the whiskey etched into the glass, with a nice etching of a racoon on a branch in the center. I don't know how old this is, and can't find any information about it, no others on ebay, no information on Google or any of the bottle-collecting sites or books. But, it certainly would be an excellent addition to a bottle collection . The mean face on the back reminds me of some of the "horrified" portraits of late 19th century advertising.
